2019-09-04 First Day

2019-09-03 Travel Day

Tuesday was a travel day.  Kent left at 7:30am and I left at 8.  We met in Cranbrook at about the same time, stopped for supper in Ritzville, gas in Tri-Cities, and arrived at Ross's just after 11pm.  It was quite a day, both of us were very tired.  Ross met us at the door and gave us a beer so we could unwind before heading to bed.  Mike, apparently had arrived earlier that day and was in his Moho down the street.

2019-09-04 First Day

We all slept in, and when we did get up, we had coffee and tea on the deck.  It was a beautiful warm day, but the forecast did not look great for wind.

We took our bikes (Mike took his new E-Scooter), down to the Bagle Shop by the Surf House, and had breakfast.  It was very good!  From there, we went down to the waterfront to look at the water.  A few people had been out foiling, but the wind seemed to be dying.  The forecast was for a mid-day lull and then light winds to build in the afternoon and evening.

Bikers - at the Bagle Place
Kent and I went to Sailworks to talk to the guys.  Kent came away with a new Demo foil to try.  It is only $2,000us - probably $2,700us with the extra front wing - so a heck of a deal!

The wind seemed to have come up a bit, so we all headed down to the Event Site.  Kent and I went out on our foil boards and had a good session!
Kent - trying out the Demo Foil
Kent was trying out the Demo foil and changed back and forth between the Demo and his old LP.

Mike went out on his 15m Flysurfer and had a great time.  He said it has so much power that he had it set it to half depowered most of the day.

Ross was trying to Kite Foil and doing a great job of it, although he had some good falls.  He said he is glad he has his helmet, even though the helmet put a couple of dents in his board....
Ross - in control!

Ross - "Not in Control"!
Later in the day, Ross went back out on his directional board and had another great session.

Jim Mudry and Dale cook arrived, so Kent went out foiling with Jim.  They went up to first tunnel west of swell which is a long way downriver.  Kent said it was a great time and he could even keep up until it was time to come back downwind.  Jim has a lot more experience riding a foil downwind in waves and Kent got a little beat up in his attempt to learn how it was done.  Still one of the best rides Kent has had thanks to Jim.
Jim and Kent - heading to the hatchery!

Mike and I had had enough for the day, so we went to the Sandbar Cafe for a beer.

It was almost 8:00 when we all de-rigged and packed up.  We went to Ferment's for a late supper.

Ross headed to Portland to pick Karen up at the airport.  Mike Kent and I had ice cream at the Condo.

Great Day!
